On The Go: Hand drawn theme from Elegant Themes

Once again, Nick from Elegantthemes.com has released a stunning theme, graphically beautiful and packed with lots of important features.

On The Go proposes a CMS layout with a featured section by default, but a blog layout is also available. This design is available in 4 unique color schemes, all declinations of this hand drawn style that appears in all the elements of the theme.

Of course, the theme is full of the features common to all themes from Elegantthemes, now accessible through the new admin theme panel developed last year.

I could say more about that theme, but I guess the best I can do is to advise you to go have a look for yourself!

Premiumthemes.net rebrands and becomes Templatic!

Do you remember Premiumthemes.net? Created by R. Bhavesh, also the creator for cssace.com, it has been one of the places to look for high quality WordPress themes for some time now.

For all beginners with WordPress, and sometimes even for pros, a bit of help is needed when looking for a code snippet or a special WordPress function. Of course, Codex is here for that, and there are plenty of great tutorials on the Internet, but sometimes it is not enough: the information can be hard to find, or you may not have the time to look.

In such cases, a WordPress search engine would be handy: that it where WPLookup comes in:

The idea is simple: using tools such as PHP Cross reference of WordPress source, from Yoast, and looking into the Codex, this search engine gives you the answers you need in just a search. And to make it even simpler, you can add it to your browser default search tools.

To conclude, this search engine will help you find info about WordPress functions in a few seconds. And if you are looking for other tools to speed up your coding process, do not hesitate to use WPLookup in parallel with these 3 other tools:

As WordPress is geting more and more popular, there are more and more people out there ready to take advantage of the situation and propose you free products, however these free products are not always what they seem. With the popularity increase of Premium theme markets, these shady websites can be found more and more easily, and end users end up using themes with encrypted code in them.

So please, and I am here relaying the info published on themelab.com and wpengineer.com recently, DO NOT download WordPress themes from untrusted sources. Leland posted lots of solutions and demonstrated pretty well how dangerous it can be to trust in such websites, so do not hesitate to go have a look at his post, it could avoid you lots of issues in the future!

Jason Schuller has a brand new theme available on press75.com! And like all the others it is stunning: original, full of options and definitely not common among all WordPress themes! From the admin panel you can manage your ads (in the sidebar and in content), your social links, your Google analytics account, and your post thumbnail options. Kind of complete, don’t you think?

WordPress themes review: issue 3

Here we are, back for a third WordPress themes review. I have to admit I have been away for a while, without giving any news on this website. It turns out starting a new business takes some time!

But here we go, I have selected some themes I have come across since our 2nd WordPress themes review and here they are!

The first one is Elegant Grunge:

Elegant Grunge

In a nutshell, a free WordPress theme, clean and simple, great for a personal simple blog, and it has nice colors for a photoblog too. Its is actually integrating lots of different functions for photobloggers, so if you are one go grab this theme right away!

Christmas WordPress theme

Ok, I can hear you from here, I am too late for Christmas! All right, I know that, but have a closer look: a magazine-style theme, two sidebars, the psd file is available for all changes you want, and it is brought to us by Samashing magazine. Well I personally like this theme, I think it is worth to have a look at it!

FREEmium WordPress theme

I guess the name of the theme says it all: a Free theme with Premium functions. If we add to that a fresh design it makes it a theme we will defintely hear about in the future: have a look at the demo if you are not convinced!

MyHome Pro

This one is a Premium theme but I wanted to speak about it as it is now how WereWP looks like! I really wanted to get a more professional look for WereWP, and I think MyHomepro is a good WordPress theme. It includes a lifestream which can be set easily through the admin panel.

And that will be all for this third WordPress themes review! Not that many themes but they are good ones! If you know of others that are worth mentionning here do not hesitate to add a comment!

Last week I started a new series here on WereWP, a list of the best WordPress themes releases (at least the ones I like!). Well there were quite a few good news since the first issue of WordPress themes review, so here comes the second round!

Coldstone

You may remember elegantthemes.com from last week : a small theme club proposing great and original themes. Turns out a new theme is out! Coldstone is a new theme quite multifunctional. With three different post layouts (blog, magazine, business) it can fit to everybody. If you have a look at all the small details added to the theme (widgetized areas, drop-down menus), that makes it a really good theme !

Modularity

This one is not as new as the others in this review but very interesting: if you own a portfolio or photo website Modularity is a great choice thanks to a big centered image navigation panel. With more options for your photos and videos it has to be counted within the best portfolio WordPress themes. This theme is Premium and will cost you 75$.

Revolution Vert theme

Well I may be a bit early with this one, it is not released yet. However Jason Schuller talked about it on his personal blog and even offered us a demo version! From what you can see it looks like a great theme already, another one among Portfolio or photo WordPress themes. So be ready! Within a few weeks we should be able to download it for free at revolutiontwo.om!

Leviathan and Old School

I have already talked about the Hybrid Framework WordPress theme: a good iniative from Justin tadlock and a reference for the future in my opinion. From a parent theme composed of 13 page templates, you can build your own child theme very easily. While there was child theme released with the first versions of Hybrid, Justin now seems to focus on that and released two different child themes these last weeks: Old School and Leviathan. Apart from being two good WordPress themes they can also be used as a reference to build your own personal child theme. I consequently advise you to have a look, the possibilities of the Hybrid framework are really amazing!

These two themes show a good example of how Justin has helped the WordPress community since last year. He keeps trying new things and showing the way to many other WordPress developers. His latest decision to release ALL his themes as GPL will certainly make some noise within the community, as his Options and Structure themes were already important themes.

So go on Justin, WordPress fans are watching you!
